A Year in the Life of the Royal Albert Hall

A Year in the Life of the Royal Albert Hall

In 2013, the Royal Albert Hall commissioned gabrielCAM® to capture 'A Year in the Life of the Royal Albert Hall' using early time-lapse camera systems.

In 2013, we were asked by the Royal Albert Hall to do a very special project; to time-lapse capture ‘A Year in the Life of the Royal Albert Hall’.

The job was to record every element of every activity and event that took place in the Hall, including all set-ups and de-rigs. We captured a diverse range of events, such as Cirque du Soleil, English National Ballet’s performance of Swan Lake, Davis Cup tennis, and of course the Proms - including ‘The Last Night of the Proms’ which fittingly concluded the edited sequence.

Remote Control and Monitoring: Capturing Time-Lapse at the Royal Albert Hall

This project involved remote monitoring and the highest level of remote control, so that every image, capturing every activity and event, could be as good as possible - and so that the interval rate could be kept consistently high to record every detail.

We installed one of the earliest versions of our gabrielCAM® camera system and set about the challenge.

The results speak for themselves.

Even in 2013, we had a version of gabrielCAM® that was up to the task, allowing us to fulfil the brief seamlessly, and with the quality befitting of both the client and the venue.

Versatility in Time-Lapse Capture: From Construction Sites to Prestige Live Events

Although the projects that gabrielCAM® is assigned to are generally in the genre of construction, it has a level of quality and control that allows it to face the toughest challenges in any genre, including events capture such as this.

gabrielCAM® and its platform, gabrielCAM® Hub, have been developed beyond all recognition since capturing ‘A Year in the Life of the Royal Albert Hall’ all those years ago. But the quality, remote control and reliability demanded on projects such as this were being built into the system from the outset.

The results are clear to see on the Royal Albert Hall’s YouTube channel.

Thanks to the Royal Albert Hall for putting their faith in us and in gabrielCAM® for this very special project, and for projects that followed.
