How do I set up my gabrielCAM® in the workshop and on-site?

Updated: 6 Jan 2026

Setup in the office / workshop

  1. Insert an LTE (4G) SIM into the control module. If using eSIM, you’ll configure this later in gabrielCAM® Hub.

  2. Dock the lithium-ion battery pack. Please ensure the battery is fully pre-charged before attending site.

  3. Enter SETUP mode. Hold the button down for 5 seconds until the LED starts flashing green.

For a full guide to LED flash states, see the setup guide.

  1. Connect to the camera’s local Wi-Fi. Use a laptop, tablet, or mobile phone to connect.

The Wi-Fi SSID and password are printed on the control module.

  1. Configure camera settings and schedule. Set capture interval, shooting window, and exposure/focus preferences.

Configure network settings (SIM APN or eSIM options as required).

  1. Add the camera in gabrielCAM® Hub. In Hub, add a camera, assign a subscription, and open the viewer portal.

  2. Confirm capture and upload at base. Make sure images are capturing correctly and uploading into your portal.

Test images can be deleted from the Gallery before client sharing.

  1. Verify battery charge. In the Power menu, check the battery is fully charged.

Once confirmed, power down the unit by undocking the battery pack.

Out on site

  1. Dock the lithium-ion battery pack to power the unit.

  2. Mount the camera securely. Use a pole, parapet, scaffold, or bespoke bracket suitable for the location.

  3. Connect your chosen power source. Mains or solar as required.

  4. Reconnect to local SETUP Wi-Fi (if needed). Adjust camera settings and schedule to suit site conditions.

  5. Use Live View to frame and focus. Check composition, horizon, focus, and any obstructions.

  6. Capture a sign-off image. Download the image from Storage and share with your client/customer for approval before locking off fixings.

  7. Confirm successful upload. Ensure the latest image has uploaded into gabrielCAM® Hub before leaving the mounting position and concluding setup.
